Civil Service Orientation: Networking Events

The Civil Service Leadership Academy is a new approach to supporting senior leaders to be truly effective in the unique context of Government. A key priority for the Academy is to support senior leaders who are externally recruited on entry to the Senior Civil service, providing access to a series of learning and networking opportunities as part of our ‘Civil Service Orientation’ offer.

These quarterly networking events form a core part of the offer, providing an interactive session for new SCS colleagues to gain a solid understanding of the core business of the Civil Service, meet with peers, share information and draw from the experience of others in a senior role.

Our next event in May is themed around Devolution. This is an opportunity for you to understand and find out about the role Devolution plays in and outside of Whitehall.

The speaker is Lucy Smith, Director General of the UK Governance Group. Lucy is responsible for the intergovernmental relations of the United Kingdom and constitution and devolution matters across the UK, including the government’s policy and approach to EU exit and devolution. She will give an overview of her role and the work her team who deal with constitutional and devolution issues that surround the Civil Service. Lucy will offer advice and guidance on how this topic relates to delegates particular role and responsibilities, and the role they can play as leader.
